Now that you have learned about the FBA process, it is time to complete one for the subject you identified in your behavior intervention project proposals. Please refer to the FBA assignment below, due on Saturday, October 21st. *Note: you must have an “approved” proposal before you are able to begin this project. If you were asked to re-submit your proposal in the instructor feedback section, this needs to be done asap if you have not already done so with the requested edits. I will attach the pervious assingemt that Y0U completed this part is complete ⬇️⬇️ Please submit a proposal for your behavior intervention projects this semester using a simple AB design. Remember, the subject can be an individual with or without disabilities, just be sure to change the names for confidentiality if you plan on using a student. Because this is a semester-long project that we will be doing in phases, you should think about a challenging behavior that this particular subject engages in that you would like to decrease (this will be the basis for your FBA projects in a few weeks!). You can also identify a more socially appropriate replacement behavior that you would like to increase at the same time (it is Ok if you don’t have a replacement behavior, this can always be added later on when you start the project!).
For example, you may want to reduce your own child’s complaining/noncompliance about doing homework after school, or you might choose to reduce a student’s inappropriate calling out in class while increasing their frequency of raising their hand instead. There are so many applications of ABA that the possibilities are endless! The proposal should be attached as a Word document and include the following information: (a) description of the subject, including gender, age, developmental history, description about current educational program, details about current IEP services if applicable– about 2-3 paragraphs should be sufficient. *Please keep their personal identity confidential- no real names!* (b) clear rationale for why a behavior intervention program is needed for this individual (c) description of the setting/environment in which the behavior program will be implemented (d) identify the target challenging behavior and give an operant definition of this target behavior(s) that you will be addressing in the program– be specific! *Refer to Chapter 3 on writing operational definitions of behaviors* (e) describe the type of data collection system you will use (refer to Chapter 4): event recording/frequency, duration, latency, interval, time sampling *Note: You do NOT need to provide any information on what specific interventions you will use in your program at this time (this will come later after Chapters 8-9).
