In my IP, I will review what are the main principles of effective leadership and the qualities of a good leader.

According to House et al. (1996), good leaders always strive for achievement, honesty and integrity, share with people and motivate and encourage them to achieve common goals. Leaders are confident in their abilities and intelligence, are creative, and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.

A critical approach to all behavioral theories of leadership divides leadership into two basic behavioral structures: interacting with other people and relating to them in the task and technical side of the job.

Likert (1979) argued that employee-oriented leaders were more successful than work-oriented leaders because goal-oriented leaders are overly concerned with efficiency, process optimization, and deadlines, but less concerned with people’s needs. On the other hand, too much attention to the relationship with employees can harm the performance of tasks and achieving results, just as too much emphasis on tasks can alienate people and reduce their motivation. According to House (1971) effective leaders motivate and help employees understand that their expectations can be fulfilled through the performance of their job.

In conclusion, in order to be a good leader, the balance between these two aspects is equally important, and this is the basis of the management framework.
