The purpose of this comparative analysis is to analyze a country response critically and
systematically to salient policy issues. The requirements for this analysis are as follows:
Why do countries respond to generally similar problems with different public policies? Explain
both how and why their policies on largely similar problems differ. In your answer, use two of
the following areas: immigration, fiscal policy, taxation policy, education policy, welfare,
healthcare, food, energy, and environmental policy. Your paper should be 8-10 pages. Your title
should indicate which issues and countries you are addressing.

Describe the country’s economic, political, cultural, and institutional structure, including their
sizes, power structures, and cross-sector relationships
Page 3-5 Subsection Title: Country’s Response
Succinctly present the country’s response by the national government and non-government
actors, in immigration, fiscal policy, taxation policy, education policy, welfare, health care, food, energy,
and environmental policy. Cite at least 2 quality sources to support your summary of responses
Page 6-8 Subsection title: Policy Analysis
Using Adolino and Blakes Comparing Public Policy theory, explain both how and why their
policies on largely similar problems differ.
Page 9-10 Subsection Title: Policy Options
Using the countries and areas you chose for analysis, list and describe a policy alternative each
country could adopt to improve the area selected for your response (i.e., immigration, fiscal policy,
taxation policy, education policy, welfare, health care, food, energy, and environmental policy). Each
policy alternative should be descriptive and include the strategy and process for implementation.
Cite at least 3 quality sources to support your discussion of policy options.
