Do Americans respond differently to the immigrant population and/or immigration policies when there are women elected officials? Is it possible that women in a position of power have an influence or a connection as to how constituents feel toward the immigrant communities. Females have always been part of society, yet it feels as if only recently they are being rightfully included after demands of equality. Could it be that they can be a contributing factor for immigrant communities to receive the representation they need?
I would like to explore what impact female city council members have on immigration and immigration policies. My hypothesis is that Americans are more likely to vote in a progressive and accepting manner toward immigration and border policies when there are women in elected positions.(Hypothesis-Can change as needed) Yet I anticipate that for there to be a connection there also needs to be female position within local levels in order for constituents to be more inclined toward accepting immigrant policies.
