. Examine formal concepts: How does the way a text is structured affect its content? This is a more expansive version of your close reading paper, in which you compared parts to understand the whole. Use two or more texts to show how they approach form in different or similar ways. You might not only connect a text’s parts to its whole but also to its historical context. These can be from same or different genres.3. Read one work “through” another: What does reading one text tell you about another one? Perhaps something you wouldn’t have noticed were you reading that text alone. You can argue based on influence, reference, or just similarity or contrast. In this argument, you’re making an argument primarily about one work, but using another in the course of your analysis. In order to prepare for this paper you should re-read as much as possible the works you’re interested in. This paper will also require you to use three scholarly sources to support, add to, complicate, or contextualize your argument. I will discuss how to find scholarly texts and incorporate this secondary research.Paper• 5-6 pages double-spaced. 12 point font. Times New Roman.• Three scholarly (secondary) sources• MLA format bibliography• Uses two texts we’ve read in class (at least 1 non-poetry text, and not the text you’ve alreadywritten on)I will attach the two texts that the essay needs to be based on.Here’s my tentative thesis (if that helps!)In both short stories, human technological advancements are heavily emphasized to have had a great impact on the utopia/dystopia. In ‘Sultana’s Dream’, these advancements are mostly used to allow for more freedom in the perfect future that the author has imagined. On the other hand, ‘The Machine Stops’ is set in a post-apocalyptic future where free will is limited in large part to technology. With that being said there were also some stark similarities between the two worlds.
