Western Civ IIThesis Statement Throughout the 16th and 17th century, the impact of the Scientific Revolution was a paramount amongst any other time period within Europe. Due to Christianity being the prominent religion in Europe, many believed for thousands of years that the geocentric model was considered true without further question. That Earth was the centre of the universe and all the planets and cosmos revolved around human beings. If the geocentric model was proven incorrect, it would raise questions within the Church about religious beliefs. Galileo was an Italian scientist, natural philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician whose inventions included the astronomical telescope that made revolutionary telescopic discoveries. His discoveries predominantly challenged Church doctrine by supporting evidence on Copernicus theory, laying the foundation for the Scientific Revolution.
